Silverchops is a Pune/Mumbai based jazz/funk ensemble. The current lineup is:
Rose Eilert: Piano
Sid Sharma: Bass
Adrian D'Souza: Drums
Jayant S: Guitar/Bass
Silverchops came into existence in the later part of 2006 out of the interaction between Rose Eilert and Jayant S and the convergence of their musical interests which found a common expression in jazz. The ensemble staged its well-received debut performance in Pune on 22 December 2006, featuring Sid Sharma on bass and Adrian D'Souza on drums.The music of Silverchops ranges from crossover to serious mainstream jazz, and seamlessly incorporates original writing with reinterpretations of established standard material. The sound of the ensemble straddles the space between the classic subtlety of a piano trio and the rhythmic exuberance of a funk quartet, with occasional forays into introspective piano/guitar duo exploration.Silverchops aspires to consruct new directions in jazz without losing sight of its of its intrinsically innovative and highly relevant traditions, and to share this musical journey with all interested listeners.
